Roger Varian asserts that antepost Moyglare Stud Stakes

Roger Varian is planning a two-pronged Curragh assault on Sunday week, asserting that antepost Moyglare Stud Stakes favourite Daahyeh has "strong credentials" in the Group 1 contest.

Varian has an excellent record with Irish raiders – five winners from a select number of runners since 2013 – and in Daahyeh he has one of the best juvenile fillies in training ahead of Longines Irish Champions Weekend on September 14 and 15.

The daughter of Bated Breath beat Raffle Prize on her debut at Newmarket before out-staying the Irish filly, Celtic Beauty, in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot. She then finished second to Raffle Prize in the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes back at Newmarket, all those races over six furlongs.

"Daahyeh is very well and should line up in the Moyglare. I am hopeful of her staying the seven furlongs and very happy with her condition," Varian enthused.

"The Curragh should be no problem but we have to find out about the seven furlongs, and it is a stiff seven furlongs there. That said, she is a similar type of filly to Cursory Glance, who won the Moyglare for us in 2014, having also won the Albany.

"She boasts some of the best juvenile filly form and has strong credentials in the race, even if it is always a hot race at the Curragh."

The Jessica Harrington-trained pair, Albigna and Alpine Star, are among a formidable home team in the Group 1 affair.

Another Varian-trained filly is Curragh-bound, with Nausha set to take her chance in the Group 2 Moyglare ''Jewels'' Blandford Stakes. The daughter of Kingman was not at her best in the Prix de Diane Longines at Chantilly in mid-June but her trainer is happy to look forward.

Varian said: "She is a lovely filly. She had a smashing win the Musidora at York and while the race did not pan out as planned in France she is on schedule for the Curragh."
